Forget the voice of Geddy Lee...
There's more to Rush than his high voice (after all, he talks like an ordinary guy). Don't ask me how I ended up here (it all started here), but I came across an interesting article on Rush's libertarian ideology. (Hey, what do you know, I have the same birthday as drummer/lyricist Neil Peart!) I never listened much to Rush, but perhaps that explains why the band was so popular in my native South Carolina.
Question for You
Does MLK's "free at last" phrase have a prior origin? I'm not aware of one. The reason I ask is because of this speech by Justice Scalia, where he parrots that phrase to lament that this country is finally "free" of the Constitution's literal meaning. If Scalia is drawing the phrase from MLK, then it comes off as if he's mocking the notion of being finally free from slavery and segregation/ I doubt this was his intention, but considering the context of the civil rights movement and Constitution-based arguments regarding states' rights, he could have more charefully chosen his words.
